In a previous life, she worked in adult education and strove to create home for at risk youth living in state institutions in Chile. As a consultant for Action Pact, she has facilitated the development of strong teams in nursing homes throughout the United States. Coletta has a specific interest in growing leadership among direct care staff, enabling them to provide the best life possible for the people they serve. Coletta enjoys collecting and sharing stories that inspire change. As the start up Director of Community Relations and Marketing at The Piper Assisted Living and Memory support, she built awareness of Action Pact's first community in Kansas City. Life has been more playful in the Huron house lately – with residents feeding off the energy inherent in spending time with fluffy kittens. Early last summer, The Piper Assisted Living and Memory Support joined the Senior Foster Friends program and began fostering sets of kittens with the Great Plains SPCA. Four Ways to Build the Culture You Want to See in Your Senior Community

I had a conversation with a leadership team recently that was incredibly frustrated by the initiative being taken by aides in the building. The complaint was that they were sitting around at the nurse’s station when they weren’t busy with cares. Leadership wanted them to be engaging with residents. But in most traditional nursing homes, this is not what CNA’s understand as their job. To get to this place we have to create a culture where engaging with residents is everyone’s job.
